You must have heard or read that no yoga or pranayama can be done immediately after a meal or only after four-five hours. But Vajrasana is the only asana that can be done after having a meal. By doing this asana, the digestive system becomes healthy and strong. 

 

What is the meaning of Vajrayana?

Vajrasana is made up of two words, Vajra means hard, strong, powerful, or strong and Asana means posture. With continuous practice of this asana, the body becomes strong and powerful like a thunderbolt. That’s why it is called Vajrasana. This is called Diamond Pose in English.

 

Scientific secrets of Vajrasana:

Vajrasana is considered the simplest and most important asana to be done in a sitting position. This asana is done after meals because it has some scientific facts. Vajrasana is done by bending both the knees and sitting straight with the fingers of the feet together.

This stops the effect of blood coming to the feet. By doing this asana, there is numbness or tingling in the feet. The blood starts moving towards the intestines of the stomach, due to the increased level of blood, it helps in the digestion of food. It is beneficial in curing gas stick, constipation, indigestion, and stomach-related problems.

How long to do Vajrayana:

Vajrasana can be done on an empty stomach or after a meal for 5 to 15 minutes. Doing this for the first time should be done for 1 to 2 minutes. With continuous practice, it can be increased gradually for 10 to 15 minutes.

 

When to do:

This asana can be done at any time whether it can be done in the morning and evening, after lunch, or even on an empty stomach.

 

How to do Vajrasana:

  • To do Vajrasana, sit in any place and spread both your legs straight forward. Place the left knee under the hip of the bend and the right knee under the hip of the bend.
  • Join both the fingers of the feet from behind and keep both the hips in between the ankles.
  • Keep both hands on the thigh.
  • Keep the waist, back, and neck straight and look in the front.
  • Inhale and exhale normally.

 

Disadvantages of Vajrasana :
