SEO Silo Structure – Increase Your Website’s Rankings

Do you want to better optimize your website? Looking to attract more targeted visitors who want your site content? Siled websites do just that. Also, they get a huge boost in the SERPS.

What is Silo Structure? Silo structuring is designing and linking your site in such a way that Google, Yahoo, Bing, and everyone else are magnetically drawn to your site. Good structuring starts with planning your site. Create separate content sections for each category. The different themes do not mix per silo, and if you follow the silo rules, you will be greatly rewarded.

Now that the separate categories with their related but clearly different topics have been created, try displaying them as separate websites. Each category requires online and offline optimization.

Implementing the silo structure will take time, but the added strength and power of your site is worth it. Your website will quickly achieve the coveted “authority site” status, and the number of backlinks needed to maintain it as such is minimal.

As more and more content is published on your site, its presence slowly increases and takes over the market one page at a time.

Who the hell thought of this silo structure anyway?

Grab your coffee or tea (I won’t blame you if you drink tea), a mini SEO theory course is about to begin.

Keywords rule the online world, and a concept called the “Co-Occurrence Matrix” is behind the new industry standard known as Silo Structure.

Do you know how Google rates every new website that dares to grace its presence?

Google compares newcomers to existing authority sites in the same niche. Therefore, it is even more valuable to become the authority site.
Google then goes to its filing cabinet on each of the authority sites and checks the keywords they have indexed. This is where the co-occurrence matrix comes into play; What are the indexed synonyms for each keyword? Example: Lose Weight and Diet.
The baby site is then verified keyword by keyword against authority sites. If you have the right combination of indexed keywords, congratulations! You’ve just received an excellent “trust score” from Google! Unfortunately, it’s impossible to know its trust score because Google has this close to its chest, and it’s only for your eyes.
Project: Create your first siled structured website

Before you dive in, you need to understand the step progression:

1. Create deeply targeted categories.

2. Treat each category and the coordinated sub-pages as separate web pages.

3. Start Internal Linking: Link category content pages to each other.

4. Start building backlinks – Each category/subcategory silo or niche gets its own backlinks campaign.

These 4 simple steps throw the doors wide open for friendly Google spiders and make them nice and cozy. An easy-to-read website equals a highly rated website.

Extra Credit: Add those siled structure features to make sure it’s a plus!

Treat your low competition and highly searched keywords like royalty. These are your designated category titles or silos.
Remember, we build each silo to be authoritative on its own, with no cross-links. Link Silo pages together, without mixing Silos!
Desperate for more PR for your landing pages? Go ahead and link landing pages to landing pages. No deep internal linking, but navigation-wise you can get away with it.
Little things that add to the authority of each Silo: quality and relevant inbound links.
You know you’ve hit the Silo structure on the head when you wake up to see your site with an indented listing! If you are unfamiliar with the term “indented listing” it just means that you will see your website indexed, and directly below that listing in Google you will see another page of your site, but that listing is back. Some of your categories are gaining presence in your market, well done!

How to create the silo structure with different website layouts

1. Root domain with a blog attached – yoursite.com/blog

Here is the best binding scenario for this website setup:

All blog categories should be similar or identical to your website’s silo categories. Google can crawl all your content quickly and will reward you for it.
Link your blog posts to the main pages of your site. Next Link to the homepage, silo pages, and corresponding content pages.
Link static blog pages to blog posts.
Create a deep link and edit the anchor text.
Try to stick to one link per 100 words in your blog posts.
Link posts to other posts.
What are you going to get out of all that hard work? Blog post’s page rank is shared with static blog pages and your static website silos.

2. Blogging silo structure

Individual posts gain visibility and traffic and pass the increase in page rank to each blog page.
That’s all!
Website marketing requires considerable knowledge in many areas online. All the “tweaks” and “tests” that increase a website’s ranking and improve traffic are a must. If improving your site’s ranking in the SERPs and gaining a larger audience is on your to-do list, I highly recommend that you honestly try the Silo framework.
