Tech Innovations That Help People with Disabilities In the Workforce

There are more than one billion people with disabilities worldwide, making them the world’s largest minority group. Digital transformation, such as in the booming online gambling industry that makes it easier than ever to do point spread betting, is helping to ensure people with disabilities are included in entertainment and in the future workforce pushing their strategic skills.

In addition, technologies linked with education, networking, financial technology, and remote employment are helping people with disabilities have more success. This helps show their potential and the skills they possess.

The inclusion of people with disabilities is vital, with one in six people having disabilities worldwide. They are half as likely as the average person to gain employment, with most of those jobs performed at the lower level of corporations.

Even people with disabilities with advanced degrees earn more than $20,000 less annually than their peers. Although new innovations can sometimes leave behind people with disabilities, they can also help their inclusion in many areas.

Education Technology

Many students with disabilities have to deal with physical barriers that limit their access to education, with many schools without the proper facilities to educate them. It can be very challenging for schools to accommodate students who use wheelchairs to travel to and from school and students with autism who sometimes can become stressed taking public transportation to classes.

Education technology is now giving them access to courses from home. Here, it’s much easier for them as they can be in the comfort of their homes and have the help of family members.

Learning online can also help students become equal with their classmates without their physical disabilities visible while communicating with teachers and other students online. Things such as braille-enabled accessories, sign language translating software, tech-to-speech technology, and headsets compatible with hearing aids are a few ways education technology is helping.

Remote Jobs

Working remotely can increase the number of job opportunities for workers with disabilities, in which traveling is a major obstacle. In addition, when working outside the home, they may require specialized equipment and other things that may result in employers not hiring them. Remote employment eliminates all those barriers and may give more confidence to some individuals and help them communicate better with their disabilities being less of an issue.

Another advantage of remote working is that it allows individuals with disabilities to have their own personal workspace, catering to all their needs. This is something that is not possible in an office setting. They can also communicate with their co-workers much better.

For example, Zoom’s closed captioning feature can help individuals with hearing impairments. It also encourages employers to always evaluate people with disabilities by their work quality rather than with unconscious bias.

Zoom is one of the fastest-growing online meeting apps and has introduced live captioning for deaf and hard-of-hearing users to participate in meetings online. It also gives users the option of receiving a transcript of the meeting at its conclusion.

26 third-party apps are currently approved and are available through the company’s app marketplace that can also be integrated with Zoom and used along with its own serviceability. In addition, other technology could soon be integrated with Zoom, such as AI technology that can translate American Sign Language in real-time.

Improved Networking

In this new age of technology, more than 80% of available jobs are filled using networking. Therefore, it’s crucial for people with disabilities to make contacts. However, networking in person can be difficult and requires travel, which makes it an unavailable option for many. For example, interacting with people in person can be discouraging for someone with dyspraxia or hearing impairment, which can make them seem less confident.

Many networking platforms are available online, which can be very important in helping people with disabilities connect with job recruiters they meet online to build relationships. As a result, they can network more confidently using the newest technology and not be concerned with the exposure of their disabilities.
