Give yourself breaks when needed to relax your mind. On some days, we have so much time on our plate that it becomes difficult for us to figure out, where to invest our time in. Instead of taking a well-deserved break, we revise more and more until we are nearly exhausted, and only then do we stop. However, this eventually leads to exhaustion and decreased productivity.
In this blog, we will talk about many ways in which you can make your day productive. We will suggest educational and non-educational things that you can pull off during a 5-25 min break.
Educational Things To Do In Your Free Time
Students get stressed and anxious during exams. In such situations, they must take a break at needed intervals. But, being under such pressure, students do not realise how to utilize their free time in PG hostel. Hence, we have listed down a few ways in which you can make the best out of your break time.
1) Get a book to read:
It does not have to be a textbook or one that you are studying for English Literature. It could be a book you found in a library or one that has been gathering dust on a shelf. The knowledge you gain simply by reading a chapter a day is amazing. You may not realise it, but your vocabulary, sentence and paragraph structures have improved, making you a better English student!
2)Watch interesting documentary:
We are not suggesting you go binge all of David Attenborough’s numerous TV shows. But, all we are trying to say is that you should watch something which is fascinating and something that benefits your knowledge in some way!
3) Solve Quizzes:
This is extreme fun without any doubt! As a suggestion, whenever you are on laptop, open websites that offer you a quiz for nearly everything. This way, you will be able to focus on your work even more effectively. It is an excellent way to revise the topics that you are struggling with within your school. Solving quizzes is fun so, it doesn’t even feel like you are revising. Always solving educational quizzes can get a little boring, on some days non-educational quizzes should be given a try.
4) Listen to TED talks:
Just when you’re feeling low, a ted talk speaker can be the one to turn your world upside down. It is an exceptional way to learn something from a very experienced professional. On your way to school or uni, you can hear TED talk about “How climate is affecting the nutrition in our food”, “The power of vulnerability” etc. Now, let’s move on to the non-educational things that you can do in your free time.
Non-educational Things To Do In Your Free Time
If you find yourself with a lot of free time, doing something educational whenever you get the chance isn’t going to be much fun. The following are some of my favourite free-time activities, and they don’t even require much effort!
1) catch up with old friends:
Get together with friends. It is so simple to pick up your phone and arrange a meeting place with one or more of your friends. You are not required to do anything strenuous. You could simply go for a coffee, go to the movies, play a sport, or simply relax somewhere peaceful.
2) Play some games:
You could play a board game with a sibling or a simple tablet game of Fun games with roommates if you are staying in a PG . In any case, games can keep you occupied for hours and can be a great way to unwind after a long day of studying.
This is a suggestion that my school repeatedly makes to students. My classmates and I all make fun of it, but it appears to help you feel calm and at peace with yourself. It is intended to support the growth mindset while removing the fixed mindset. Meditation has been practised for centuries and is an excellent way to unwind and detox on a daily basis.
4) Start a new hobby:
No! We are not referring to a sporting event. For instance, joining a local club, such as Girl Guides, and Cadets, are a few things you can explore. It’s not important to join an organisation. Take baking, sewing, singing, acting, writing or cooking classes. These things have always proved to be beneficial to your mental health and stress management.
