5 Tips To Clean Hard Water Stains From Stainless Steel Sinks

You frequently get scale deposits from your water supply on stainless steel surfaces, such as your bathtub surround or sink. This causes ugly hard water stains to appear on your beautiful, stainless-steel surface. Simple regular maintenance can stop the spots from reappearing and restore the sink’s gloss. A few industrial cleaning products are available that are made specifically to address this issue, but you can solve the issue with a common household item and save money by not purchasing as many cleaning products.

Removing hard water stains

Vinegar

The acidic power of vinegar to remove hard water stains makes it a safe, all-natural household cleaner. Spray it on any surface with hard water stains by pouring some into a spray bottle. Allow the vinegar to work for five to fifteen minutes. Spray extra vinegar on the area if the vinegar starts to dry out. Use a cloth or paper towel to gently wipe the sprayed area in the grain of the stainless steel. Continue doing this until the stain is gone.

Olive oil

If your stainless steel sink’s sheen has been destroyed by water stains, think about cleaning the stains and polishing the stainless steel at the same time. On a delicate microfiber cloth or paper towel, drop a tiny amount of olive oil. Always remember to massage in the grain direction of the stainless steel when using this method on stains. Once more, wipe with a clean, dry cloth to get rid of any remaining oil. Hard water stains can make a bad look for your sink especially if you live in a rented space. At the time of moving out, it is wise to hire a bond cleaning company that will ensure everything is clean.

Baking soda

Baking soda is a strong all-purpose cleaner. Your stainless steel won’t be harmed by its mild abrasiveness, but it will benefit them. Apply a paste of baking soda and water to the trouble spots to solve the issue. For a few minutes, let this natural cleanser work its way into the stains. After that, lightly scrub your sink with a toothbrush or other bristled brush and wipe with a microfiber cloth to make it shine like new.

Lemon juice and baking soda

Apply lemon juice to the stained area, and let it sit for five minutes. Next, apply a light coating of baking soda to the area. The mixture will become fizzy. Use a paper towel or a clean microfiber cloth to clean the area. Always massage stainless steel with the grain facing you. Be aware that as some of the baking soda dissolves, you might need to add more lemon juice. With a clean, damp towel, clean the entire area, and then let it air dry.

Rubbing alcohol

Another simple method for removing hard water stains from stainless steel appliances is to use rubbing alcohol. On a soft rag or piece of microfiber cloth, liberally spray rubbing alcohol (also known as isopropyl alcohol). Gently scrub the water spots, being sure to constantly rub in the grain of the stainless steel. This procedure removes even the toughest water stains and eliminates the need for rinsing because the rubbing alcohol will evaporate.
